A registered non-profit organization dedicated to delivering religious, cultural, social, and community services to the Afghan Shia Muslim community in Metro Vancouver since 1998.
The Canadian Hussaini Association was founded in 1998 by community elders who recognized the need for a dedicated spiritual and cultural home for the growing Afghan Shia Muslim population in Metro Vancouver.
The organization began by hosting Muharram events in rental halls. As the Afghan Shia population grew, the community came together to acquire land and build our own Hussainia. Our current location in Richmond, BC now accommodates over 500 community members.
We operate independently without political affiliations, serving our community with integrity, faith, and a deep commitment to Islamic values.
To cultivate spiritual development, strengthen communal ties, and advocate for peace — creating a space where community members find solace, pursue knowledge, and contribute positively to our diverse Canadian society.
To empower our community members to make a positive impact in our society by providing resources, knowledge, inspiration, and empowerment through various religious, educational, social and cultural initiatives.
Located at 6200 No 5 Rd, Richmond, BC V6Y 2T9, our Hussainia is the spiritual heart of the Afghan Shia community in Metro Vancouver. The facility accommodates over 500 worshippers and hosts regular programs, majalis, and community events.
