The home of the Afghan Shia Muslim community in Metro Vancouver — a place of worship, learning, unity, and cultural preservation since 1998.
The Canadian Hussaini Association (CHA) is a registered non-profit organization in British Columbia, dedicated to serving the Afghan Shia Muslim community in Metro Vancouver.
Founded in 1998 by community elders, CHA has grown from organizing Muharram events in rented halls to owning our Hussainia in Richmond that serves over 500 community members. We operate independently, without political affiliations, guided solely by our community's spiritual and social needs.
The Afghan Shia Muslim community in Metro Vancouver is a vibrant, close-knit group of families and individuals who have made Canada their home while proudly preserving their Islamic faith, Afghan heritage, and Shia Muslim traditions.
CHA provides a spiritual anchor for this community — offering programs in both English and Dari/Farsi to serve members of all generations, from newly arrived newcomers to established Canadian families.
If you are new to Vancouver and looking for community connection, spiritual support, or settlement assistance, CHA is here for you. We welcome Afghan Shia Muslims and allies from all backgrounds.
